Dr Nenad Popovic was born in Tuzla in 1966. He graduated from Belgrade University School of Mechanical Engineering, and completed his master and doctoral studies in economy in Moscow.

Shortly after completing his studies in Belgrade, Popovic got a job in Moscow, in 1992, in a Swiss company Euromin, where he worked trading ferrous and non-ferrous metals until 1994. After that he established his own company, which will in time grow to ABS Holdings, today employing over 5,000 people, and operating in Serbia, Russia and China. Within ABS Holdings there are 10 factories producing equipment for electric power industry in Russia, 6 in Serbia. There are two scientific institutes in ABS Holdings, as well as several managing companies.

In his academic career, dr Popovic has, in the field of economy published over 40 papers and two books, and from 2000, he has been teaching Basics of global corporations in Moscow's Lomonosov.

Popovic has been socially active in Russia through his humanitarian fund "Slavyansky", since 2002. In Serbia, in 2003, Popovic co-founded Serbian-American center, an expert team for development of bilateral relations between the two countries' governments. He is today the vice-president of the Serbian-American Center. In 2005, he founded "Easteuropean center for strategic development, a think-tank aimed at regional cooperation development. Besides, dr Popovic founded and presides with ABS Fund, which functioning whithin ABS Holdings. Dr Popovic is often invited to take part in international and regional gatherings (National Prayer Breakfast, regional gatherings organized by Bundestag, the Albanian Parliament, the Crans Montana Forum, Center of national glory of Russia, Kremlin roundtables and other).
Being very active in the field of sport, Popovic,  beside the other, during 2003 and 2004  hold the post of  “ Partizan” Basketball Club Vice President. Since December 2006 until May 2007, he was the President of  Belgrade Football Club “Partizan”, one of two biggest football clubs in the West Balkans.

Dr Nenad Popovic since 28th June 2006 until 15th May 2007 , held the position of Vice President of the Coordination Centre of Serbia for Kosovo and Metohija.  Since 20th February 2006. he is a Leader of the Economic Team for Kosovo and Metohija and for the South of Serbia. On 17th August 2006, he was appointed on the function of Vice President of the Coordination Body for Municipalities Presevo, Bujanovac and Medveđa, and on 7th September  2007, he was appointed as Deputy President of this Body.

He is fluent in English and Russian. He is married and has three children.
